Amir and Baba.

From the first 4 chapters, I believe Amir and his father is distant. There is a funny scene from the beginning of this novel. Author gives a obvious cue when he introduces the photos of his family. "but it's Rahim Khan's pinky my fingers are curled around." this is the words he described the photo. Actually,what the author want us know is "I'm distance to my father.". Secondly, When Amir told Baba about what Mullah taught them on the class, baba suddenly dropped Amir up on his lap. From the passage,it's easy to see that Amir feels uneasy. This is not normal for a father and a son, what we can see is Amir feels so far from his Dad that he can not easy to accept what is normal for father and son. In addition, once Hassan and Amir were skimming stones at Ghargha Lake with Baba. At last, baba patted Hassan's back for the eight times he made, but not Amir. This kind of behavior also made Amir far from Baba.

And one more,when Amir have finished his first story. The people who appreciate of him is not Baba but Rahim. Amir feels happy for this even comes a feeling which he feels over come:"wished Rahim Khan had been my father".

The relationship between Amir and father is not healthy. After the long talk between Amir and Babe. What in Amir's mind is:"The truth of it was,I always felt like Baba hated me...I had killed his beloved wife..."(PAGE19). How can such a cruel thought in a child's mind? What can deeply reflect about this can be found at the last part of the third chapter. Babe talked with Rahim:"If I hadn't seen the doctor pull him out of my wife with my own eyes,I'd never believe he's my son.".

Another one thing can reflect about this is when Amir told his father and Rahim he have wrote a story. The Rahim's words made both Amit and Babe feels they were rescued.

And Amir is definitely different with Baba. What Baba want Amir do are always what Amir don't want to do. Just like the football, or the race of the horse. Or even what Amir said after he talked with his father"The least I could have done was to have had the decency to have turned out a little more like him But I hadn't turned out like him. Not at all.". We can not deny what Amir said by himself.
