Assignment 1:Amir and Baba

I do not believe that Amir and Baba have a close relationship. On the other hand, they have a distant and unhealthy relationship.
First of all, from chapter three ,we know that Amir and Baba don’t have long conversation even with few words. The essential communication is through words, as a father, how can Baba do not know or do not want to talk to his son? From page 31, it write as” …He looked relieved, as if he too had been rescued by Rahim Khan..” Amir eager to be praised by his father but Baba just looked at him and then escaped from smoking room. How strange they are! It cost people thinking are their relationship father and son?
What’s more, Amir and Babe do not believe in each other. Baba is doubting about his son and he can not tolerate that Amir lack of “self-defense”. From page 23, he said:” If I hadn’t seen the doctor pull him out of my wife with my own eyes, I’d never believe he’s my son.” In return, Amir don’t like his father either. From page 32, he wished that he could open his vein and drain Baba’s cursed blood from his body and he also wished Rahim Khan had been his father.
In fact, Amir and Baba has something similar. Ali and Baba are childhood playmate but Baba never refer to Ali as his friend. Maybe it is because Amir is Baba’s son and Hassan is Ali’s son, Amir never thought of Hassan and he as friends either even though they grew up together.
