The biggest misunderstanding of friendship

The kite runner is the first book that I read written in English. During read this book, its scenes always impresses me so much. Such as Hassan always say “for you, a thousand times over”, however, when terrible thing happen to Hassan, Amir was to weak and chose to keep quiet and escape. Such a tragic result is not just because of their personality were different; these kids have already been taught through their inner mind the ‘necessaries’ and ‘non-necessaries’ of their own social status.A Hazara servant has to be completely loyal to his master, whereas a noble Pashto agha should never risk himself for a cheap Hazara servant.
Back to the real world, when they were young, they enjoyed the time spent with each other; those childish conversations, easily made but faithful swears and unforgettable funs shared. However, when facing the cruel realities and challenges, the bridge of friendship could easily collapse as soon as one side gives up.
Therefore, let’s look into the novel, when Amir saw those bad guys bulling and even sexually abusing his ‘best friend’ Hassan, he chose to escape. Meanwhile, for protecting Amir’s kite, Hassan bravely faces Assef, when Assef tells that the relationship between Amir and Hassan is just master and servant, Hassan argues that Amir is his friend. However, it is the truth that their fates are differentiated by those social tags they may never understand, society will force them to accept the positions assigned to them, and they must put on the masks given by society.
Hiding in a corner, timid Amir is not touched or encouraged by Hassan’s words.
This is the biggest misunderstanding of friendship.
