It is unusual a boy from wealthy family, as Amir is, has this close friendship with his servant Hassan in Afghanistan. Whenever Amir needs, Hassan is the one who stands out to protect him, who follows every word Amir asks him to, and who can do everything for Amir even die. Amir has a weak character which is totally opposite to his dad's requirement. That's one of the reasons why he always feels his dad does not like him at all. But his talent for writing appears in his dad's best friend Rahim Khan's eyes. With Rahim Khan's encouragement, Amir finally becomes a good writer. Besides writing, Amir is also good at kite running. So is Hassan. As a gift, Hassan can always exactly find the location of the kite beaten by Amir. One time, Amir and Hassan win the first prize in kite running. Hassan runs to get the kite excitedly. But the kite is found by Assef and his friends, a group of really bad boys. In order to get the kite for Amir, Hassan is raped. Unfortunately, Amir see the whole fact happening. Still, he is too weak to stand out. The champion wins his dad's admiration for Amir. But he losts Hassan. By excuse, he forces Hassan and his dad to leave. As the war starts, Amir leaves for the United States with his dad. Life is hard but happy there. He founds a best relationship ever with his dad and marries his bebloved wife. But the peace is broken by a call from Rahim Khan. He realizes it is the time to do something for Hassan to release from his guilt. He stands on his motherland again after 20 years wishing to catch the chance to be a good one again. But this time, he is totally shocked by a tremendous lie. But this time, Amir choose to be brave, fighting for his best "friend" ever, Hassan...
The Kite Runner is an amazing novel which used to become an international best-seller published in forty countries. It is not only telling a story but also shows us the defect of human nature and how to become a good one. The plot is attractive with unexpected turning points. To sum up, it is a worthy-reading story.
