Book Review

Childhood, Afghanistan. He and Hassan who is a son of servant, they were together and together all the childhood time. As the writer says in the book “When we were children, Hassan and I used to climb the poplar trees in the driveway of my father’s house and annoy our neighbors by reflecting sunlight into their homes with a shard of mirror. We would sit across from each other on a pair of high branches, our naked feet dangling, our trouser pockets filled with dried mulberries and walnuts. We took turns with the mirror as we ate mulberries, pelted each other with them, giggling, laughing….” They always fly the kite together. However, Hassan is the runner for pick the kite back every time when they won the game. And this becomes a pain in Amir’s heart, forever. When Hassan went for catch the blue kite back for Amir, meantime in order to protect Amir’s kite, he suffered sodomy, but Amir watched all the thing happened and he run away instead of step forward. The worse thing Amir did was trumped-up the missing watch to set Hassan up. Turns out, they do not have a good relationship like before any more. Time moved on, Amir moved to the United States, but the guilty full of his deep heart duo to Hassan, and later he was aware of the family’s secret that Hassan is his half-brother. In order to get back ‘once again become a good way’ Amir back to Afghanistan, while Hassan is dead, after a tons of difficulties and dangers, Amir rescued the only son of Hassan, Sohrab, back to the United States. Amir fly kites with Sohrab to warm the lonely child, meantime he seemed to have heard of ‘for you, thousands of times!’ in the back. He saw Sohrab’s lips smile, and he really began to aware salvation…
I start to read to this book for home assignment, I mere get through this book in couple of days, nevertheless, I couldn’t put it down once I started and I was totally absorbed in the setting of this book. And I will definitely spend time to plough through it again later. It is such a wonderful book. It is so hard to depict friendship, servant hood, and brotherhood at the same time, but Hosseini did it successfully!

The Kite Runner

The story told about the complicate relationship between Amir and Hassan. One is a Pashtun, one is a Hazare. One is a selfish master, one is loyal servant. One is brave ,and one is not vilolent. These differences give birth to the different life. Amir was born in a rich family, when he was a children, he spent a happy childhood with his servant Hassan, it seems they are friends, or like brothers. It is obviously that Hassan regards Amir as a good friend definitely, never tell lie to Amir, sacrifices himself for Amir. But in little Amir’s mind, he treated Hassan as a servant more than a friends. Ever thing became changed after the kite tournament, in order to protect Amir’s kite, Hassan was hurt deeply. But Amir he chose pretended not to see,for he want to protect himself and get his father’s praise. For his conscience, he told lie to his father that Hassan stolen his watch. As a loyal servant, knowing amir against himself, Hassan still choice to protect Amir at last time. Since then, Amir’s inner blame was weight. After the war in Afghanistan, he moved to the United States with his father, for Amir, everything is a new start. College, a father's illness, death, married... he tried to forget past, tried to drive his inner shadow, amir and have a normal life. But a Khan’s call make everthing changed again, he asked Amir to come back to Pakistan for Hassan’s son. Khan told him a a big secret, Hassan was his borther. Rahim khan said "once again become good way to find sola Amir. Amir once cowardly and selfish, but these years have been suffering from his conscience, this time, he chose the brave, chose the brave self-salvation.

I like this book. Hassan always said "for you, a thousand times over," bur Amir chose to ignore, such a tragic results not only is caused by the individual differences in these young and the children had been instilled the subconscious and corresponding to their social status "should" and "should not", a hazara servant should fight, but noble master is not worth to take any risks for a hazara servant. It is unfair.People can not adviod his human weakness, what’s the most important things is beat it. Amir came over it and make up his mistake in the end. It is what I learned from the book.

'The Kite Runner' Review

‘The Kite Runner’ is a story about two childhood friends in Kabul who appeared at first to come from two complete different backgrounds. Little did they know that they had more in common than just their love for kite running. Amir is the son of Baba, a well-respected businessman, and Hassan is a Hazara, the son of Baba’s servant. Baba cared for both boys but Amir always felt jealous about the way Baba paid attention to Hassan. This jealousy and envy is the base of all the events to come in the story. Rahim Kahn is a business associate of Baba’s and has a soft spot for Amir and is more of a loving father figure than is biological one. Amir witnesses Hassan get raped in an alley by the local bully and does nothing about it. This haunts him for years to come, he avoids facing his sins and instead he keeps running away from them. Shortly after that incident he frames Hassan for being a thief and he leaves. Later the Russians invade Pakistan and Baba and Amir flee to America. He carries the burden of what he did to his loyal friend in his heart and mind right into adulthood. He marries a woman by the name of Soraya, but is unable to share the entire truth of his being with her. When Baba passes away he comes to the realization that even those we admire have secrets and bare shameful burdens. This motivates him to face his reality and return to Afganistan to seek closure on the events that haunt his conscious. Upon return he uncovers lifelong secrets and gives back for his past wrong doings. He finally acquires the closure he so truly needed and eventually gets the happiness, fulfillment and peace he longed for.

I would recommend this book because it is a touching, meaningful story which encompasses a real situation which is occurring in the world. It gives insight into the trauma and tragedy of the innocent people in Afghanistan. The storyline also includes a good moral lesson, which can really be taken to heart by the reader. The reader can see how easily friendships can be broken but how difficult it is to put them together again. At times the text is not very clear and concise with what the author is trying to say. Confusion can occur when there are phrases in a foreign language.

Review for Kite Runner

In the beginning of Kite Runner, the call from Rahim Khan recalled the days of the author Khaled Hosseini’s childhood in Afghanistan. Amir was the son of a rich family in the capital city Kabul of Afghanistan. His Baba was a successful businessman who had a good reputation and prestige. Hassan, a servant and friend to Amir, was a brave and loyal person. He used to stand up for Amir and regard Amir as his best friend. Comparing with Hassan, Amir was so cowardly and selfish. One important plot in this book is the Kite competition. When Amir saw Hassan was hit by Assef, he did nothing. When Russian invaded Afghanistan, Amir and BaBa escaped to United States. They had a different life in America and worked hard for their new life. Amir loved writing the fiction in America. He built a new family with his wife Saraya who is also from Afghanistan. Amir has changed a lot and begun to think about others. After he talked with Rahim Khan, he thinks about that he will go to save Hassan’s son to make up for Hassan.

This is a great book for me. From this book, I felt a lot about the friendship and how to be a good friend. When I read every chapter, I would expect what will happen in the future. In addition, I learned how to be brave and responsible man like Baba and adult Amir. To sum up, this is worthy to read. It will help the readers to know much about your life.

review of the kite runner

The novel “Kite Runner” tells us a story about a boy in Afghanistan. The boy called Amir is the dramatis personae in this novel, and he has a friend, his only friend called Hassan, and also hassan is his little servant. They suffer the same situation because they both lost their mother when they were born, they grew up together, they treat each other as their best friend, but they have the opposite characters, hassan is brave and loyal, but amir is timid, and this bad character finally made amir lost a precious friendship with hassan. When hassan was facing the violent and insult, he didn’t give up, he protected amir’s kite, his glory, but amir saw this happened and did nothing but to run away. Then amir maligned hassan had stolen his watch in order to drove away hassan. Even amir did those bad thing to hassan, but hassan said nothing but to suffered it. After that, the war came out, amir and papa all moved to America and started their new life. Many years had passed, after amir married, he found that he was so sorry for hassan, he wanted to do something to make up for hassan until one day Rahim Khan gave him a phone call to tell him the way to be good again, and he step out to do so.
This novel is so attractive to me. Because it writes about people’s weakness, and as the time going on how people overcome it, also, it teach us a lesson that we should treasure the thing around us, when you loss it, you will find how precious it is and no matter what you do to make it up, it won’t come back again.

Kite Runner review

I found the novel kite runner very interesting. From the moment i started reading it i could bearley put it down. The kite runner was set in two countries; Afghanistan and the United States. The begining of the novel takes place in Afghanistan where Amir lived with his father Baba and there servants Hassan and his father Ali. At the begining Amir and Hassan are shown as inseparable but as the novel goes along amir does not stand up for hassan as much as hassan stands up for him. Later in the novel, Amir and Baba move to the US and Amir thinks that this will help him get over his guilt. While he is in America Baba passes away, and Amir is forced to be independent. Baba's long time friend Rahim falls ill and calls Amir back to Afghanistan, this phone call brings back the guilt that Amir had been hiding inside him. He is forced to go back to Aghanistan to see Rahim. When he meets Rahim, he reminds him of his sins and his fathers sins too and assures him that it is not too late to change. Amir finds out the devasting news about Hassan and he is forced to look for Hassans son; Sohrab who he finds in the care of Assef. Amir is now forced to stand up for Sohrab who was assulted while in the care of Assef. Amir and Assef fight and they both get what they deserved. Sohrab is now in the care of Amir and although he tries to commit suicide and doesnt talk to Amir for a whole year even after taking him to America.

I think that this is a wonderful novel and should be read by everone! it is amazing to see how precious life is, and how family and friendship bonds are forever no matter what. This is a wonderful novel and i truly enjoyed reading it. I reccommend it and everyone should get a copy at some point in their lives. It truly teaches one a lot.

Literary Analysis of the Kite Runner

“This is one of those unforgettable stories that stays with you for years.” (Isabel Allende). After I read this unforgettable story I was lost in my thought…

The first chapter is started with a call from Rahim Khan, who is one of the main characters in this Kite Runner. When Amir picked up Rahim’s call, he hesitated for a long time: whether he should come back to Pakistan, where has tons of memory of Amir’s childhood, or not. Amir and Hassan grew up together, and they experienced numerous things such as sharing Amir’s story, flying kites or fighting against Assef who did some bad behavior to Hassan. Actually, Amir was not a 100 percent bad person---he was selfish, superficial and coward, but in the later years he changed a little bit , for example, at last he decided to go back to Pakistan and took care of Hassan’s son. Hassan is the person who treated Amir as a fantastic master and friend--- he obeyed to Amir no matter what Amir said. In the opposite, Amir just looked him as a slave almost all the time--- he was full of jealous when Baba showed his love to Hassan. In the end of the story, both Amir and Assef got what they deserved, which pointed to that Amir suffered with his bad behavior to Hassan and Assef lost one of his eyes.

This powerful book, Kite Runner, makes me think about many characteristics which we need to be a good person. In addition, it helps me develop a standard about how to evaluate a person. Also, marvelous description about the changes of Amir gives me an imagination of his future life… All in all, I value this book a lot, which made me lost in my thoughts about how to be a good person as best as I can for several times.
